UNFK Your Golf Drive

You found the throw. Then you picked up a driver.

Your irons got better. The driver still slices. There's a reason for that, and it isn't your swing.

I get this email most weeks.

"The throw is unreal. I'm hitting my irons better than I have in years. But the driver — the driver's still fucked. I can't get it to work."

Different names, same email. And I've stopped being surprised by it, because the golfers sending it are doing everything right everywhere else in the bag.

They're not broken. They're not the exception. On the driver, they're the rule.

The driver is different in exactly two ways

It's the longest stick in the bag. And it's the only shot in golf where the ball is sitting up in the air on a tee.

That sounds like nothing. It isn't. Those two things combine to confuse and derail golfers everywhere — and almost nobody ever has them pointed out.

When you finally see it, and feel it, the game changes.

Because until then, the driver is where the throw gets abandoned. Watch a golfer hit a seven iron with the throw, then hit a driver. It's two different people. The iron swing is loose and unbothered. The driver swing is careful. Braced. Steered.

That happens for an understandable reason. The driver is the club where the miss hurts most. Out of bounds is real. The group behind is watching. So the body does the sensible thing and takes control.

Steering is what a slice is made of. The harder you try to control the ball, the less chance you have of hitting it well.

It feels like caution. It behaves like sabotage. And because it only shows up with the big stick, most golfers decide they have a driver problem and go looking for a driver fix — a new grip, a new tee height, a tip off the internet, a $700 head.

They don't have a driver problem.

You already own the swing. You just stop using it at 460cc.

If you slice it, start here

The slice is the thing I get asked about more than anything else in golf. It's also the thing golfers have been handed the most advice about — and almost none of it has worked, or you wouldn't still be reading about it.

Strengthen the grip. Close the face. Swing more from the inside. Stop coming over the top.

Every one of those is a thing to manage. Every one pulls your attention inside the swing. And every one makes you more careful than you already were — which, as it turns out, is the thing causing the curve in the first place.

There's a lesson in here that follows the whole chain, from where the ball sits in your stance all the way to the moment it turns right. It starts nowhere near where you think it does.

It also answers the grip question properly, and my answer isn't the one you've had before. If you've spent years fiddling with your hands and the ball still curves, that lesson on its own is worth the price of the course.

What this actually does

Everything in here runs off the throw you already know. There's nothing new to memorize, no positions to hit, no rebuild. What changes is what you're aiming at and how much you're holding back.

More distance

Speed you already have, currently being spent on control you don't need.

Straighter

The slice mostly isn't a face problem. It's a steering problem, and steering is a decision.

Less effort

Good drives feel easier than bad ones. If yours feel like work, something is fighting something.

There's one idea in here that undoes about twenty years of what you've been told about the downswing. I'm not going to spoil it on a sales page. It takes four minutes to read and most people go quiet for a bit afterwards.

What's inside

Nineteen lessons and drills, nine of them on video. Read them in order the first time — they build.

Plus the drills. The little training exercises are the part people write back about. They're not warm-ups. They're the bit that makes the idea stick when there's a card in your pocket.

Who this is for

Golfers who already strike their irons reasonably well and cannot work out why the driver is a different sport. If the throw has done something for the rest of your bag and stopped at the tee, this is the missing piece.

It's also for anyone who has been told, more than once, that they cast it. You've been carrying that around for years. It's worth four minutes of your time to find out what it actually is.

It's not for you if you've never come across the throw. Start with the free lesson instead — this one assumes you've got the idea already.

Questions

Do I need to have read The Golf Lie or UFYGS first?

It helps a lot. This course assumes you know what I mean by the throw, and it doesn't re-teach it from scratch. If you've never met the idea, read the free lesson on the site first — ten minutes, costs nothing.

Is this a swing rebuild?

The opposite. There is no new motion in here. Every lesson is about removing something you're currently doing that stops the swing you already own from showing up on the tee.

How long does it take?

You could read the lot in an afternoon. Don't. Each lesson is one idea — take it to the range, hit some balls, then come back for the next one. Most of the work happens between the lessons, not in them.

Do I need a launch monitor or any gear?

No. You need a driver, some tees of different heights, and somewhere to swing. I don't chase numbers and I'll explain why.

I'm a decent player. Is this too basic?

Good players are the ones this tends to land hardest with, because they've had the most instruction to undo. One of the lessons came out of a swing review for a single-figure golfer who'd already paid several other pros to look at the same swing.

Will it fix my slice?

There's a whole lesson on it. Short version: almost every slice I see is a steering fault that shows up as a curve, and the curve is the last link in a chain that starts at your setup. Fix the cause and the curve stops being a thing you have. It won't happen in one shot — nothing here does — but it will happen faster than years of grip changes have.

Can I get a refund?

No. Digital products are non-refundable here and I say so before you buy, not after. If you're not sure, read the free lesson first and see whether the way I think about golf makes sense to you.

The last honest bit

This won't add forty yards by Saturday and I'm not going to pretend otherwise. What it will do is stop you fighting yourself on the tee, which is where the yards were hiding the whole time.

I'll also tell you that I spent most of this year taking my own medicine on it — because I'd been telling golfers to use the driver more while quietly not doing it myself. That's in here too.

Grab it below and get started.
